With the season fast reaching its climax the fight for points and positions is really hotting up. Tomorrow’s trip to third place Harrogate Town looks a daunting prospect on paper, but it’s the away games that hold the key to Boro’s play off aspirations.
Boss Kevin Wilkin will be hoping for another away day performance to behold, such as the one that saw his side produce a 2-0 success at an in-form Stalyridge Celtic last month, and with a visit to AFC Telford’s Bucks Head ground looming in the week the next few days will be crucial.
Good news on the injury front may see striking duo Jordan Stepien and Andy Brown return to the fray after both suffering recent injuries. If either do lose their race to be fit in time, Alex Rodman is likely to continue in attack. A change in formation may also be an option as midfielder Carl Palmer returns after suspension, and may be selected to add extra steel to the midfield divisions.
Harrogate, on the other hand, have their own priorities to play for as they try to keep the heat up on leaders Kettering Town in the chase for the automatic place. A defeat here must surely see them have to scale down their ambition to securing a play off place also, so they will be up for the game.
Harrogate will enter the game with a clean bill of health, that means dangerous pairing Danny Holland and former Bradford City forward Gareth Grant leading the line for Town. Holland is of particular threat, having notched three times in the last two games against the Boro.
Competition sponsor Blue Square unsurprisingly back the home side for this one with odds of 5/6. Both the chances of Nuneaton winning, and that of a draw stand at 5/2, with the latter being my favoured choice.
