Nuneaton Borough v Barrow Preview

BarrowAfter moving to fifth place after Tuesday night’s draw at AFC Telford, Nuneaton will hope to carry their momentum into the home game against an in-form Barrow side. A win may leave Kevin Wilkin’s men in the lofty position of third if results go the right way.

The Cumbrians are still on the edge of the play-off race, despite being 11 points behind Boro they have two games in hand, and a victory today would give them a massive lift. A run of one defeat in ten more than suggests that they might be capable of springing a surprise a Liberty Way.

Boro will be without promising left back Connor Franklin as he serves a suspension for the sending off against Alfreton. New signing Rob Taylor is likely to replace him at the back, however another option may see Matty Collins bought in on the right side of the defence, allowing Simon Travis to move left.

The strength and flexibility of Wilkin’s squad allows him to tinker with his squad where he sees necessary, and changes in midfield may also be on the agenda- Carl Palmer, Tom Curtis, Bradley Pritchard and Mark Noon all vying for starting berths. An added boost comes in the form of Andy Brown who looks to have shaken off his injury to be fit for the game.

Barrow on the otherhand have this week added to their attacking ranks, as they have signed the experienced Paul Tait. This allows them extra cover, as they still miss midfielder James Scales through injury.

With play-off chasing Southport and Stalybridge locking horns this weekend, and Hyde United with a tricky game against leaders Kettering, it seems like a great opportunity for Nuneaton to cement their place in the top five.

Blue Square see that the home side are favourites, offering odds of 5/6. Barrow’s odds may well be tempting for those who fancy an upset at 7/2, while the draw at 13/5 is also a worthwhile punt.
